Many remember the old Veritas Winery shed on Langmeil Road in Tanunda, but as the business grew dramatically in the 1990s, so did the need for a larger winemaking facility.
The present site on the corner of Seppeltsfield and Stelzer Roads was initially built in 1998, ready for the 1999 vintage. After making wine in the old winery for 44 years, we wanted to replicate best practices from the rustic winery, while making the process more efficient for the future. Our goal was to maintain our winemaking style, using open fermenters and heading downboards, to produce a style that we firmly believe in.
Over the years, significant improvements have been made. In 2003 we added a storage shed so that we can store all our wine on site. Technical changes to our cooling unit, presses and more efficient machinery have enabled us to improve our production method and pass on benefits of economies of scale to our customers.
It’s critical to ensure that grapes are handled as gently as possible in every stage of the fermentation process, then the wine matured with minimal movement and handling in order to produce a quality wine.
