The ‘Stephanie’ vineyard is a small block of vines adjacent to the winery on Stelzer Road, planted in 1996 and named after Rolf’s eldest child and the first grandchild of Rolf and Franziska Binder.
This vineyard has consistently produced extremely high quality fruit that is typically used in our premium Bull’s Blood Shiraz Mataro wine. In exceptional vintages, like that of 2015, some of the fruit is also designated for a single vineyard wine – the Stephanie Shiraz.
The wine is a classic Binder Barossa Shiraz – with robust fruit flavours and smooth tannins that give a lovely mouthfeel.
Typically aged in a mix of American and French oak barrels, with ratio of 50% new American, 25% new French and 25% 3 yr old American.
The ‘Stephanie’ is an excellent choice for cellaring 5-10 years.
