Heysen Shiraz 2015 Magnum
1.5L Magnum Release 2015 Vintage
A super premium Shiraz that calls for a place in any good cellar. American wine critic, Robert Parker Junior, describes Rolf Binder as “one of my favourite wineries (whose) offerings are never excessively oaked, possess extraordinary ripe, concentrated fruit, great individuality”.
The nose offers aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, truffle, espresso, black cherry, and blueberry. Ripe, juicy berry and spice flavours with well-rounded tannins and a very good, lengthy finish. A luscious, full-bodied wine that is flavourful and impeccably balanced whilst maintaining a real sense of elegance. This wine is a classic Barossa Shiraz which will provide pleasure for many years to come.
Full-bodied with plenty of ripe, seductive berry and spice flavors on the palate. An elegant Shiraz that benefits greatly from the small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon to add complexity and richness.
Drink this superb Shiraz to 2035+.
The Hanisch has been included in the ‘Excellent’ category of the Langton’s Classification of the top 101 wines in the country.
“Amazing red-noir hue. Waves of flavour, rich fruit doused in spices, licorice and oak spices too but everything in its place. Full-bodied, decisive tannins and impressive. A wine by design as much as place.”
95 points, drink to 2032. 14.5% alc.
James Halliday, Wine Companion 2020
“The flagship wine that’s a powerhouse of concentration, taking in 100% new oak – 75% American and 25% French then aged for 22 months. Flavours of coconut husk and raw cedar abound, but the fruit is taking it all in its stride. The full-bodied palate overflows with intense blackberries and currants, dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee and sturdy tannins. Yet it all comes together, gliding along to a decisive conclusion, just a touch of warmth on the finish.”
95 points, drink to 2030. 14.8% alc.
James Halliday, Wine Companion 2019
“A great example of the very best traditional style of Barossa Valley shiraz, precisely filled to the brim with black fruits, licorice, fine, but persistent, tannins and quality oak. It makes its point calmly, and won’t brook any dissent. Cork. 14.5% alc. 96 points, drink to 2048
James Halliday, Wine Companion 2017
