2019 Barossa Shiraz
RB Shiraz SWE 750ml V19
A collection of Barossa Valley Shiraz vineyards, primarily Binder estate vineyards spanning from the inner west to northern Barossa sub-regions, contributed fruit with varying characteristics and add a nice
complexity to this wine.
Wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley’s 2019 vintage will be of very high quality but of limited supply. With a very dry winter and spring; frost events in September and November disrupted bud burst and flowering;
hot, dry conditions in January and February also contributed to 2019 being recorded as the lowest-yielding Barossa harvest of the past decade.
All batches were crushed and fermented separately during the vintage period. A combination of traditional pumping over and heading down boards was used to extract the full potential of each wine.
On completion of fermentation the batches were pressed and gently pumped to barrels to mature for a period of 11 months. The oak used
was 4% new American, 3% new French, and 93% older American and French barrels. All batches were monitored carefully prior to blending to ensure that the full potential and style was to expectation and standard.
The wine has a deep, bold purple-red colour with violet, blackberry and blueberry aromas, traces of licorice and dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with a great depth of flavour. Drinks really well young, although it will certainly take some ageing nicely. There’s just enough tannin to give it structure and finality.
CELLARING: Made to enjoy until at least 2030.
