Olive Harvest
08 Jun 11
The Vineyard workers joined Christa and the cellar hands in the olive grove to collect this year's harvest of olives for our olive oil.
The lads, armed with rakes of all descriptions, bashed and prodded the trees to knock the oil-heavy fruit onto the carefully laid out tarpaulins underneath. Christa took the collected olives to a local olive press, and returned with 45 litres of delicious, thick, olive oil. This year's vintage was a bit cooler, so there are many green olives in the mix, resulting in a more herbaceous style of olive oil.
